10 years! Yes, Eagan Valley Dental Center has been participating with "Give Kids a Smile" for 10 years. What a fantastic way to serve children in need within our own community. This year's event was on Thursday, February 4th in our Eagan location, with 22 volunteers from both locations serving. Twenty- nine children received care which included cleanings, fluoride, sealants, x-rays, necessary fillings and extractions. Eagan Valley Dental Center prides itself on the fact we bring these children back to 100% dental health. We thank all our 22 volunteers, and all the GREAT children and families we met in our community!
Last weekend, Dr. Perkins and Joan volunteered their time to help the under-served. We are so fortunate to have people like this in our lives. I have shared some information from the Mission of Mercy website, so we cen see what an impact this type of service has on a community . Thank you Dr. Perkins and Joan!
We would like to extend A BIG THANK YOU to all of the Minnesota Mission of Mercy volunteers that donated their time and services to the 2015 Mission of Mercy in Duluth on July 17-18. Your kindness brought smiles and tears of joy to patients who traveled from near and far to receive much needed care. This fourth Minnesota Mission of Mercy event delivered free dental care valued nearly $1 million.
The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) was transformed into a giant dental clinic that included over 100 dental chairs, 16 sterilization units, and 9 x-ray units. Over the course of two days there were 1,500 patient visits, resulting in over 6,571 total dental procedures, including 1,148 fillings, 1,376 extractions, 1,104 x-rays, 734 cleanings, 82 partial dentures, and 75 root canals.
More than 1,000 volunteers from all over Minnesota were used to staff the two-day event and included dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental therapists, translators and hundreds of community and lay volunteers who served as greeters, registration assistants, and patient ambassadors. In addition to the two clinic days, volunteers also donated countless hours to setting up and then tearing down the massive dental clinic at the DECC.
This year, Eagan Valley Dental participated in Give Kids a Smile Day. We provided free dental care to local children in need. Thirty-two children received this care which included prophylaxix cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, radiographs, necessary fillings and extractions. This event took place on February 6th and was made possible with the volunteered efforts of our staff. Eagan Valley Dental Center and The Henry Shein Company donated the many supplies needed to make this event possible.
We would like to ask a favor from our patients, family and friends of Eagan Valley Dental Center.

Thank you Joanne!
Wondering what Dr. Perkins and Dr. Mittelsteadt have been doing this summer. They participated with our LDA, Joan in the 2014 Minnesota Mission of Mercy (MOM), in Mankato. The Mission of Mercy is an 2 day event that focused on helping underserved populations of children and adults who are without medically compromising conditions to receive dental treatement that they, for whatever reason, cannot obtain. A MOM event is successful with the help of hundreds of volunteers- dental and non-dental-coming together with a common vision in mind. This year in just two days:
- Volunteers: Over 1, 000
- Patient visits: 1,500
- Total in donated care: $ 900,000
- Fillings: 1, 066
- Extractions: 1,145
- X-rays: 1,195
- Cleanings: 334
- Partial dentures: 100
- Root Canals: 46
